Operation Christmas Child Launch

Operation Christmas Child Launch

2 September 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

We are delighted to announce that our College will be participating in Operation Christmas Child again this year.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, which provides students with a unique opportunity to pack gift-filled shoeboxes for children in desperate need, many of whom have probably never received a gift before. Samaritan’s Purse arranges for these boxes to be hand-delivered to children in remote villages, slums and towns in the developing world.

This is a wonderful opportunity to touch the lives of some of the poorest children in the world,  while also teaching our own children about their privileges and ability to reach out and make a difference.

Participation is entirely voluntary. Due to the high level of participation we see from our families each year, the youngest in each family (from Prep to Year 12) will be sent home with a box and brochure. You can return these items to College Administration if you do not wish to participate. You are also more than welcome to collect additional boxes to fill if you want.

KEY DATES

  • Friday 9 September- Boxes distributed to youngest in the family (Prep-Year 12)
  • Friday 14 October – Return filled boxes to College Administration

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Your child will bring home a box and brochure on Friday 9 September.

  • Decide whether you are packing for a girl or boy and the age category. The options are 2-4 years, 5-9 years and 10-14 years.
  • Fill the box with fun toys, clothing, hygiene products and school supplies.
  • Pray for the child who will receive your gift and include a personal note or photo.
  • Include a $10 donation to cover the shipping and project costs on each box. Donations can be made by one of the following methods.:
    • Donate directly to Samaritan’s Purse on their website and print your box label
    • Include $10 cash in the box
    • Or complete the credit card section on your brochure, seal it in an envelope and place it inside the box.

We pray that our College will bless the lives of many children this Christmas!
