College Athletics Carnival 2022

College Athletics Carnival – Fri 24 June 2022

1 June 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

The CalCC Interhouse Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 24 June at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) athletics track for Prep to Year 12 students. The Athletics Carnival is a normal school day and attendance is compulsory for all students. We look forward to an excellent day of competition.

The Athletics Carnival program can be downloaded here.

This is our final College sporting carnival for the year and the purpose of the carnival is to have students compete to the best of their ability in a range of track and field events. It is our expectation that all students join in with a spirit of competitive participation and enjoyment. Students will not be allowed to sit in the stands and watch. Our District Athletics team for the Independent District Carnival will also be decided on the day and parents will be notified during the holidays.

Uniform Requirements
Students must wear their sports uniform with a house coloured top. These must be modest, sun safe and appropriate for competing in a school athletics competition. Students are encouraged to creatively accessorise in their house colours to add to their house spirit. Points will be given towards the House Spirit Award for the most imaginative display of house allegiance. For safety reasons, no student will be allowed to compete in bare feet. There is little shade available on the day, particularly because students move from event to event, so hats, sunscreen and water bottles are essential.

What to bring/wear

  • Sports uniform (including sports shoes)
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Water bottle and packed lunch (food will NOT be available from the CCCafe)

Student Transportation

  • Buses for Years 4-12 depart the College at 8:20 am and return by 2:45 pm
  • Buses for Prep-Year 3 depart the College at 9:30 am and return by 1:30 pm

Parent Involvement
Parents are encouraged to attend and to cheer students on from outside the fenced sporting field, however we do ask that children remain with their cohort on the sports field. Please do not attend this event if you are unwell.

Free parking is available at Car Park 15, off Claymore Road, which is approximately a five minute walk to the athletics field.

Parent Pick Up from USC (Years 4-12 Only)
If you intend to take your children home with you at the end of the carnival, please advise us here so we can estimate numbers for the return of students to the College.

All students are required to stay at the carnival until the end of the day even if they are leaving with their parents. If your child is not travelling back to the College on the school bus, you must sign them out, in person at 2:15 pm at the recorder’s desk. No students will be able to leave the venue without a parent/carer present to sign them out.

Award Presentation
This year we will be holding a special whole College House Trophy and Age Champion Presentation Assembly on Monday 18 July at 8:30 am. We look forward to welcoming parents to this presentation and we ask all parents attending to:

  • Stay home if unwell
  • Sit in the designated parent seating

We look forward to a great day of participation and competition. Thank you for your support.

Kind regards
