It is a fundamental belief at Caloundra Christian College that all students’ gifts and talents are determined and given by God. Therefore they should be able to access and participate fully in all the programs offered by the College.

The College is committed to providing support for students who require assistance in order to access the regular curriculum. Support for students with special needs is provided across all age groups on an individual and small group basis. The level of support available is determined by the College in line with the College’s Special Needs Policy and government funding guidelines.

Two groups of students are able to access these support services:

Students who fit into this grouping have been diagnosed by a medical practitioner with one or more of the following disabilities:

• Hearing Impairment (HI)
• Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Physical Impairment (PI)
• Intellectual Impairment (II)
• Speech and Language Impairment (SLI)
• Social/Emotional Disorder (SED)
• Visual Impairment (VI)

This group of students have difficulty accessing the regular classroom environment and/or curriculum because of learning disabilities and/or behavioural problems.  They may exhibit characteristics of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Dyslexia, or have difficulties with short-term and/or long-term memory, auditory processing and organisational difficulties.  These students may struggle with all subjects or may have difficulties in one or two specific subject areas.
